SOME of Scotland’s biggest hotel operators have thrown their weight behind a new executive education scheme for the hospitality industry.

Apex Hotels, Gleneagles, Chardon Management and Hilton Worldwide have all backed the new Executive Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership offered by the International Leadership School (ILS) – a partnership between Strathclyde Business School, Cornell University in New York and École hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.
Apex managing director Angela Vickers will be among the first participants on the Masters programme, which begins in January and runs for two years on a part-time basis.
“Having the opportunity to learn from world-leading academics and network with peers will give Apex Hotels a crucial advantage during a critical period for the sector,” she said.
Peter Lederer, chairman of Gleneagles Hotel and the ILS, said: “It’s not about managers having the required technical skills, but developing industry leaders who can operate internationally, digitally and dynamically.”
