Who wants to buy a Borders bar?

A BORDERS bar that’s said to count Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host Christ Tarrant among its customers is up for sale.

Said to be the oldest pub in Kelso, The White Swan is located in the centre of the market town overlooking the abbey.
Trade is currently derived solely from wet sales in the bar, which has a 3D TV popular with sports fans.
But the business does include a 40-cover cafe unit which, although not currently trading, is said to offer potential to introduce a food offer.
Above the bar and cafe, a three-bedroom flat could provide either owner’s or self-catering letting accommodation.
Current owner Brian Campbell, a former White Swan customer who has run the pub for the past six years, said he has been forced to sell after sustaining a serious ankle injury.
“Unfortunately, my injury has proved too much for my health to allow me to continue this type of job,” he said.
Bruce & Co’s Lewis Murphy, who is handling the sale, said The White Swan enjoys “high levels of tourist trade” due to its proximity to Kelso’s visitor attractions, golf course and racecourse.
“The White Swan represents an outstanding opportunity to purchase a profitable business with various options to expand and develop,” he said.
“The pub has a strong and loyal customer base, and retains good turnover figures and high profits which could be further increased by reopening the cafe.”
Offers in the region of ÂŁ49,995 are sought for the leasehold interest.
