New owners plan to refurb and relaunch business

A STIRLINGSHIRE hotel is set to undergo a root and branch refurbishment after changing hands. First-time buyer Pete Habberjam acquired The Coppice Hotel in Callander having admired the property many times in passing. He now plans to refurbish the property, which is said to date back to the 1870s, before relaunching the business early next year.

We were looking for a property that offered a business and a family home

Pete said the opportunity to buy the hotel was “too good to miss”. “We are regular visitors to Callander and the property has always stood out, so we were thrilled when Bruce & Co sent us the sales details,” he said. “We were looking for a property that can be used as a family home as well as a business, so the Coppice was perfect for us. “We were looking for a family project as well as a business, so wanted somewhere that we could work on. I couldn’t have asked for a better sale: it was quick and easy, and I am very grateful to all the Bruce & Co staff involved. We’re all looking forward to working on the hotel together as a family.”
Bruce & Co’s Ewan Scobie said the sale is further evidence of the sector’s buoyancy. “Given the increasing success we have seen recently when it comes to the sale of hotels, we were thrilled to be able to complete another deal quickly and easily,” he said. “Both parties were very pleased with the service and we look forward to being able to offer future vendors and buyers the same satisfaction.”
