Disruptor gin brand takes aim at the lucrative shots market

WATTSHOT is claimed to be the world’s first-ever gin designed to be drunk as a shot – and Scots customers now have the chance to assess the wisdom of that serving suggestion with the arrival of the brand in five Edinburgh venues.

Entrepreneur and brand co-founder, Doug Everest, has been busy taking WATTSHOT around the world, from Ibiza to India, and more recently, onto the UK festival and trade show circuit.

But as a Scot himself – hailing from Boat of Garten in The Highlands – Everest is pleased to now have the brand made available for the first-time across Scotland.

Launching in conjunction with Merchant Leisure Group, WATTSHOT’s gin shot is being stocked in The Piper’s Rest, Jackson The Tailor, The Newsroom, The Railbridge and Burgers & Beers Grillhouse in Edinburgh, and listed across the country, available through Inverarity Morton.

Developed over nine years by taste-maker Stuart Logan, the brand’s first release is described as a ‘multi-award-winning taste sensation that defies convention’, said to leave an ‘electric tingle in the mouth with a delicious cherry taste and floral aroma’. It has already attracted plaudits from the World Gin Awards, the People’s Choice Spirits Award, The Spirits Business and more.

Plans are in place for a full range of flavours under the brand, all designed to be served as premium shots – although Everest stressed that, for those who prefer to drink their gin in a more traditional fashion, it can be enjoyed over ice, added to tonic, or mixed into a variety of delicious cocktails.

“WATTSHOT is becoming popular in different markets around the world, but it’s always been an aim of mine to launch in my home country,” he said. “I’m very proud to see WATTSHOT stocked in some fantastic outlets in Edinburgh and I’m confident people will embrace the concept.

“One of the country’s largest wholesalers, Inverarity Morton has also agreed to list WATTSHOT and we are available right across Scotland now.”
