Listed ‘landmark’ for sale

OPERATORS with a soft spot for Art Deco architecture may be interested in Aberdeen’s Northern Hotel, which has come onto the books of property firm Colliers International.

Built in 1938, the grade A-listed property features a V-plan layout and curved edges, said to create a ‘striking’ appearance inside and out.

Inside, the hotel has 32 bedrooms and a number of bars and restaurants, including Ellington’s (50 covers), the Clifton Public Bar, and the Astoria Dining Room (40 covers).

There’s also a ballroom and the adjoining Mackenzie room, which combine to form a cinema-style curving function suite capable of accommodating 200 people.

Alistair Letham of Colliers International, which is inviting offers of £1.5 million for the property, said the hotel is “a unique architectural gem”, which “continues to trade well, drawing custom from locals, visitors and local businesses alike”.
