Address Collective prepares to open its second Glasgow hotel

AddressLuxury Irish hotel group, The Address Collective, will open its newest Scottish property next month, described as a ‘boutique hospitality experience in the heart of Glasgow city centre.

Its exact location will be well-known to anyone who has followed the local news recently – as it occupies an elevated space looking out over Glasgow Central Station, adjacent to the corner building recently destroyed by fire.

The Address Wren has been developed as a ‘design-led’ 30-bedroom penthouse hotel on the top floor of the Caledonian Chambers building at 87 Union Street, a position that will offers guests ‘sweeping city views’, even if the current ground floor environment is less than scenic.

Central Station’s famous glass roof

A Category B-listed Edwardian commercial building, with striking classical architecture and an ornate entrance, access to the hotel is via a dedicated lift that leads directly to the penthouse level.

A careful restoration and refurbishment programme is said to have preserved the character and charm of the historic building while introducing the elevated interiors and modern comforts associated with The Address Collective brand.

Happily, the Address group could confirm that no damage was sustained to the property during that very nearby fire.

Alongside 30 signature bedrooms, a central feature of the Wren will be The Parlour lounge, said to be designed to feel like a ‘relaxed and residential’ setting where guests can start their day before exploring the city or attending nearby business meetings.

The Wren opening marks the seventh hotel in The Address Collective portfolio and its second Glasgow property, following the launch of The Address Glasgow a little up the hill on Renfield St back in 2023.

Address Collective owner and manager Brian McGettigan said:  “The opening of The Address Wren marks another exciting milestone for The Address Collective as we continue to grow our presence in Glasgow and across the UK and Ireland.

“Glasgow has been an incredibly important city for us since opening The Address Glasgow, and with The Address Wren, we wanted to create something more intimate and design-focused while celebrating the heritage and character of this iconic building above Central Station.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming guests and introducing another unique hospitality experience to the city.”
