In 2025, down on Leith’s Great Junction Street, the licensed unit that previously traded as the Tam O Shanter Bar underwent a ‘significant redevelopment and repositioning’ by its owners, thereafter becoming the Leith Social Club.
While the Tam O Shanter had been much loved as a local ‘old man’s boozer’, the Leith Social refit sought to put a modern twist on that heritage.
The resulting stylish unit is now available to a new operator, either leasehold or freehold, on the market through Cornerstone.
Occupying the ground floor of a mid-terrace unit, it offers a large open plan bar with central bar counter, with a stage to the immediate right hand side on entry, known for hosting music and open mic nights, as well as weekly quizzes.

Suspended ceiling and lighting alongside Formica walls are offset with deep red lino flooring and leather banquette seating. There is a pool area and jukebox towards the rear.
In the repositioning of the business as the Leith Social Club, the owners sought to exploit what they saw as a gap in the vibrant and eclectic Leith trading location for a ‘stylised and design driven’ pub offering.
It is envisaged that new operators would look to run the business on a ‘hands-on basis’ as well as looking to expand the current opening hours.
Cornerstone said that the business represents a walk in opportunity for an enthusiastic operator to take over a well-positioned site with enormous trading potential.
Cornerstone have suggested a freehold guide price of £350,000, or a rent of £30,000 per annum, with a deposit of six months’ rent.
