Copita Mezcal and Tequila Festival moves to Saint Luke’s

Copita Mezcal and Tequila Festival will return to Glasgow on Saturday 22 August with a new home at Saint Luke’s and the Winged Ox, in what is described as its most ambitious Glasgow edition to date.

Championing the ‘craft, culture and complexity’ of agave spirits, Copita brings together producers, brands and drinkers for an immersive tasting experience that welcomes both seasoned enthusiasts and curious newcomers.

This year’s festival will feature a wide range of tasting stands staffed by agave experts, who will guide guests through more than 100 samples of mezcal and tequila, sharing knowledge, stories and pours throughout the day.

All tastings are included in the ticket price, with no additional charge to sample at the stands.

Each ticket holder will receive a traditional clay copita on arrival to use for tasting during their session and to take home afterwards – a signature part of the Copita experience.

The festival will also feature a cocktail bar, a discount bottle shop and a programme of masterclasses for anyone keen to take a deeper dive into the world of mezcal and tequila.

New for this year, The Winged Ox will serve as a break-out bar, diner and beer garden exclusively for Copita ticket holders, serving its acclaimed hot food alongside pints and other drinks, giving guests even more reason to settle in and make a day of it.

Founder Adam Murphy said: “Copita has always been about celebrating exceptional spirit in the right way – not just what’s in the glass, but the people, stories and culture behind it.

“Moving to Saint Luke’s gives us the chance to grow the festival in a really exciting way. We are taking over the full venue, plus opening out onto the square for a bit of party atmosphere, and creating something even more vibrant and immersive this time around.

“This year still has everything people love about Copita – the tastings, the copita, the cocktail bar, the bottle shop – but in a bigger setting, with more to discover throughout the day and into the night. Oh yeah, there’s an afterparty this time too.”

This year’s festival will run across two sessions – 2pm to 5pm and 6pm to 9pm – followed by an afterparty with DJs from 9pm until midnight.
