January or not, birthdays mean beers, so it’d be an unwise licensee that lets today, Thursday 8th January, go past without highlighting to potential customers that Elvis Presley is turning 91.
The Shoogly Peg, on Edinburgh’s Rose Street, has not missed the opportunity, and is hosting a special Elvis-themed event – which they suggest the King of rock’n’roll will actually be attending, albeit only in spirit.
“Being one of the most exciting days in the rock ‘n’ roll calendar, we invite you to come along and enjoy the spectacle,” said The Shoogly Peg’s assistant manager Ross Matheson.
“Not only will we have three of Edinburgh’s finest musicians performing Elvis tunes from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, there will also be Elvis-based drinks, costumes, and a shrine for those who wish to pay their respects and light a candle for the King of rock ‘n’ roll,” said Matheson.
“It only comes round once a year, we hope to see you there.”
