This month, The Hoxton hotel brand plans to open the doors of its new Edinburgh outpost, created from 11 ‘stitched-together’ townhouses set across both sides of a street in ‘vibrant and historic’ Haymarket.
The new hotel, from international lifestyle hospitality group Ennismore, is described as being ‘design-driven, community-focused’, with its original Georgian features elevated by Ennismore’s inhouse design team, AIME Studios.
Altogether, it will offer 214 rooms including three self-contained homes, a spacious lobby, an ‘intimate’ cinema, a ballroom events space, The Apartment meeting and events concept, and an all-day Italian restaurant, Patatino.
The aim is to cater to a variety of guests – the rooms will come in nine categories, including Snug Single and Bunk rooms which are ‘perfect crash pads for solo trips or stays with mates’, and Hox classics: Cosy, Roomy and Biggy.
In addition, the Haymarket hotel will feature The Hoxton’s new House category – three self-contained three-bed, three-bath homes, ideal for those looking to live like a local.
The open-house lobby will offer a ‘community-focused space’; “versatile enough to grab a coffee in a cosy corner, work remotely in stylish surrounds or knock back a wee swally as the evening draws in”.
There will be regular cultural programming involving local partners and Edinburgh’s creative communities.
Patatino promises to serve hearty Italian dishes in a laid-back romantic atmosphere, with ‘all the chic sophistication of a Neapolitan aperitivo bar and none of the pretence’.
Inspired by Edinburgh’s Georgian heritage, throughout the hotel’s design AIME Studios references the Neoclassical style associated with the neighbourhood, juxtaposed with more contemporary block colours and clean lines.
