Glasgow’s Sub Club in the running for DJ Mag’s national ‘Best Club’ Award

Iconic Glasgow venue Sub Club has been nominated for DJ Mag’s Best of British ‘Best Club’ Award, standing out as the only Scottish club to receive a nomination this year.

This recognition by the dance music subculture’s bible cements Sub Club’s status as one of the UK’s most revered music institutions and follows a landmark year for the venue, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its weekly club night, Subculture – the world’s longest-running weekly club night.

Since its inception in 1994, Subculture has been at the forefront of global club culture, ‘pushing musical boundaries and introducing generations of clubbers to groundbreaking sounds’.

Co-founded and helmed by resident DJs Harri & Domenic, Subculture has become a cultural institution, renowned for its forward-thinking ethos and electrifying dancefloor moments.

This year, Harri & Domenic were also honoured with the Ballantine’s and Sub Club Electronic Music Award at the Nordoff and Robbins Scottish Music Awards, recognising their pivotal contributions to the electronic music scene.

Managing director of Sub Club, Mike Grieve, said: “We are thrilled to be nominated for DJ Mag’s Best of British award.

“It’s been an incredible year celebrating Subculture’s 30th anniversary and the legacy of the Sub Club as a whole. This nomination is testament to the dedication of our team, the talent of our resident DJs, and, of course, the continued support of the clubbers who have kept the Sub Club spirit alive for over three decades.”

Voting for DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards is now open at DJ Mag until 12pm on Thursday 28th November, with winners set to be announced in December 2024.
