Renfrewshire hospitality hotspot Ingliston Country club has teamed up with a Scots-owned boutique wine company to offer its customers a selection of rare premium wines and fizz.
Tan&Ns Wine Importers is run by Glasgow’s Luigi Tana, and his business partner Nico Simeone, of the Six by Nico restaurant chain.
Luigi, a wine producer and importer with over twenty years in the business, initially established the company in 2021 during lockdown when people began ordering more wines and spirits to enjoy at home.
He and his team have now imported over 100 styles of wine from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Hungary, Germany, Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, Australia and South Africa.
Luigi, who also has his own vineyard in Italy, said: “As we grew the business we wanted to go for the least expected customer and put a package together with fridges, self support, updates, new vintages, wine dinners, and staff training and we found Ingliston Country Club to be the epicentre of that.
“I’ve always thought of the Bishopton venue as a five-star establishment, and it is the perfect fit for our quality wines,” said Tana.
“We have two words for wine in the business,” he continued. “One is ‘wine’ made by a winery, made by a team, and harvested and bottled on site with a label, story, and heritage – and the other word Is ‘juice’ – which is put into tankers and usually bottled somewhere like Bristol or Durham. You’d be amazed at how much ‘juice’ is sold in the UK.
“We provide Ingliston Country Club with ‘wine’ and educate them to educate their clients to be more adventurous. They are a wonderful family run independent operation, like the majority of our suppliers.”
Ingliston, sited near the village of Bishopton 20 minutes along the M8 west of Glasgow, has a busy schedule of weddings, special events and parties. Luigi said: “They go through an incredible amount of wine because it’s one of the most popular events venues in the country.”
Via Tan&Ns, Ingliston is now stocking a range of fresh organic wines: “It’s great, because customers at Ingliston are trying out affordable quality organic wines that they normally would never be offered at a restaurant,” said Tana. “Ninety per cent are vegetarian too. It’s not just any old plonk.”
Ingliston Country Club’s founder and chairman Paul Fraser added: “We have tried many different wine importers over the years and they have served us well.
“We have always been synonymous with high quality produce at Ingliston but this takes things to a new level.”
