Following their recent acquisition of Eastside on Edinburgh’s George Street, the team behind the successful Freddy’s ‘party parlour’ on nearby Frederick St have reinvented the space as country-themed pop-up bar Westside Rodeo.
Inspired by the popularity of Encore Bars’ country nights at Freddy’s, Westside Rodeo will, temporarily at least, dedicate an entire venue to the ‘charm and excitement of country music’.
“Westside Rodeo is more than just a bar – it’s an experience,” said Encore Bars area manager Gavin Currie. “Whether you’re a seasoned country fan or someone who’s new to the genre, there’s something for everyone.
“With performances scheduled throughout the week, each visit promises to be unique, filled with music, dancing, and good times.”
As well as country-themed cocktails, Westside Rodeo stocks a wide selection of premium beers and tequilas to complement the country vibes and lively atmosphere, and is opening on Thursdays from 9pm to 3am, and Fridays and Saturdays from 7pm to 3am.
Previously owned and operated by the Montpeliers group for 23 years – when it was known as Opal Lounge – the Freddy’s team have given the George St venue a makeover to create an immersive saloon-style interior that transports guests ‘straight into the heart of a Western movie’.
To top off the experience, every guest will receive a complimentary cowboy hat upon entry, to help them embrace the country spirit.
“We are excited to bring this amazing location into our growing portfolio and confirm our commitment to delivering fantastic concepts to Edinburgh,” said Encore group owner Edward Fox.
“Westside Rodeo perfectly complements our other venues, Freddy’s and the soon-to-open The Boston Bar, offering something distinct for our patrons while maintaining a seamless transition between each location,” said Fox.
“This pop-up is not just a fleeting endeavour; it’s part of our broader vision to innovate and create spaces that resonate with our community. By introducing Westside Rodeo, we are adding a new dimension to the city’s nightlife.”
The group is currently recruiting for supervisors, bartenders, waiting staff, and barbacks at all three of its venues.
