Glasgow’s Clayton Hotel recently hosted a successful ‘night at the races’ as a fundraiser for industry charity Hospitality Health.
The event, attended by over 100 guests, was held in the hotel’s grand ballroom, which is situated in the original Clyde St Custom House building, which dates back to 1840.
Hospitality Health was founded in 2018 with a mission to change the way the industry thinks about mental health. It fully funds staff to attend Mental Health First Aid certificated training.
The charity also awards its Wellness Charter to recognise businesses which are putting the right steps and mechanisms in place to support the mental and emotional wellbeing of their staff.
Speaking at the presentation of a cheque for £1500, the general manager of Clayton Hotel, Hazel Galloway, said: “It is so pleasing that we raised such a great amount to support Hospitality Health. The work they do in raising the need for wellbeing in the industry is so important.
“The staff at the hotel have also benefitted from the funded training to become Mental Health First Aiders which is such a huge benefit to our wider team.’’
Charity founder Gordon McIntyre added: “This is an amazing amount to have raised and we are delighted with the partnership that has developed with the Clayton Hotel. Hazel and the team are so supportive.
“What we are trying to achieve with Hospitality Health is to equip the hospitality and tourism sector with the right tools and mental health first aid training to not only address mental health but to put staff welfare first.”
As well as choosing Hospitality Health as the charity partner for the event, the Clayton Hotel shared some of the funds raised in support of Leukemia care.
