This Friday, August 9, has been designated as ‘International Coworking Day’ – and one of the Glasgow hospitality venues benefitting from the growing demographic of geographically mobile laptop professionals will be using the date to highlight its offer as a comfortable place to work.
VEGA, the ‘larger than life’ bar, restaurant and bowling alley on the top floor of YOTEL Glasgow has taken advantage of its central location and rooftop views to pitch itself as an ideal coworking spot.
Just across the road from Glasgow’s Central Station, with doors open from 8am, VEGA reckons it provides an optimal environment for professionals who enjoy the freedom of coworking, offering easy-listening playlists, super-fast free Wi-Fi, and numerous charging points.
On International Coworking Day, it will host a free-to-attend social morning from 10 am to 12:30 pm, complete with complimentary pastries and networking opportunities, so the uninitiated can get a look at its cityscape views.
It has also announced an ongoing initiative dubbed ‘Work Wednesdays’ to encourage guests to bring their laptops and join the coworking community in the city.
Taking place from 10 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesdays throughout August (14th, 21st, and 28th), these free sessions will offer guests the chance to enjoy complimentary pastries and chat with fellow creatives.
Given its proximity to the train station, and its private meeting rooms, VEGA also looks to attract professionals entertaining clients in the city centre.
Business meetings can be enhanced by adding bowling in the four-lane neon-lit bowling alley or enjoying a meal or drinks from the in-house kitchen and bar.
YOTEL Glasgow general manager, Neil Taylor, commented: “‘Work Wednesdays’ sessions will provide informal networking opportunities and blend our vibrant social and work cultures.
“We hope our regulars will love this new initiative, and we look forward to welcoming new faces.”
With an eye on corporate guests, the venue has also introduced VEGA Retreat packages, offering businesses and workplaces ‘opportunities for personal growth and the development of client and colleague relationships’ through wellness days, executive meetings, private dinners, large-scale presentations, and networking events.
These packages can include cocktail masterclasses, ‘Big Lane Energy’ bowling competitions, relaxing yoga days, goal-setting workshops, and ‘living in the moment’ masterclasses with instructor James McCourt.
Packages can also include catering, DJ hire, branded photo booths, and city-wide educational, historical, and sightseeing experiences.
Taylor continued: “We are proud that VEGA has become a hub for professionals in the city centre and are delighted to deliver elevated days out and retreats for workplaces seeking bespoke solutions to their workforce event needs.”
