Promising to become ‘a cornerstone’ of the East Lothian golf coast, luxury boutique hotel and restaurant The Leddie has been opened in the picturesque town of Aberlady.

Formerly The Duck’s Inn, the property was acquired by Northern Irish private investment company Wirefox last September, and has since been refurbished to become part of the Marram hotel collection.

With a remit to blend the ‘historical essence’ of the building with contemporary design, the project was a collaboration between Wirefox’s in-house design team and Studio Terry, and is said to have produced a space that is ‘both escapist and inviting, celebrating the area’s rich history while providing a modern sanctuary for guests’.

The hotel has 27 rooms, each combining modern amenities with local touches. Guests can unwind in the hotel’s lounge, complete with a real fire, or enjoy a drink on its spacious front and rear terraces.

Shaun Lund has been appointed as head chef of the hotel’s restaurant. Having grown up locally, Shaun has over 12 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, with a CV that includes a number of notable locations, including Crieff Hydro, Duchally Country Estate and Ballathie House Hotel.

Seating up to 80 guests, the dining space will showcase a menu that celebrates East Lothian’s local larder.

“The opening of The Leddie marks a significant milestone for us,” said general manager Robert Clark. “We have worked tirelessly to create a space that not only provides exceptional comfort and luxury but also embodies the spirit and charm of East Lothian. We are very excited to welcome guests and offer them an unforgettable stay.”
