Max’s Bar on Glasgow’s Queen Street has been picked by graffiti titan Banksy to supply a unique Irn Bru Margarita to guests visiting his ‘Cut & Run’ exhibition at GoMA.
The artist is gifting one of the specially concocted cocktails to all guests who attend evening slots of the exhibition on Friday & Saturday nights between 10pm and 5am from today, Friday 21st July.
The team at Max’s Bar tested 15 different versions of their Irn Bru Margarita before settling on the final recipe, with the support of Mangrove and Dunn’s Food & Drink who helped source ingredients at short notice.
The official Banksy Irn Bru Margarita uses Barrs Irn Bru syrup supplied by Dunns, Vivir Tequila, Dry Curacao, topped with soda, fresh lime and a mini Traffic Cone in homage to the work which Banksy called his ‘favourite work of art in the UK’.
Until 28th August, ticket holders for the Cut & Run evening slots will be able to collect a token at GoMA which can be redeemed at Max’s Bar at any time until 28th August. Customers who are not ticket holders for the Banksy Exhibition will be able to buy the cocktail for £5.95 from 10pm on Friday 21st July.
The owner of Max’s Bar, Dario Bernardi, said: “We were obviously excited when Banksy’s team asked us to develop an Irn Bru Margarita for guests to the Cut & Run exhibition – and as with any major project, we took it very seriously.
“Working with our suppliers, we were able to turn round the design, development and supply of our very own Irn Bru Margarita – The Banksy – and we can only hope that the real Banksy will be in to try one sometime!”
