Great weather for ducks – and waffles – up on Edinburgh’s skyline

EDINBURGH’S Duck & Waffle has opened a new 32-seat terrace to make the most of the venue’s ‘breathtaking’ views over the heart of the city.

The restaurant brand’s first UK venture outside of London, Duck & Waffle’s site on the upper floor of the plush St James Quarter retail development, at the eastern end of Princes St, only opened at the start of February this year, and has since reportedly been a hit with the capital clientele.

Extending its offering of ‘an escape from the bustle below’, the venue accompanied the terrace opening with a new, fresh and seasonal cocktail and culinary offering.

“Duck & Waffle is the go-to destination for summer in Edinburgh,” declared general manager Alex Winter. “There’s nothing better than celebrating on the terrace with an exceptional cocktail and a group of friends.”

Highlights from the new Terrace Menu include refreshing libations like ‘The Main Squeeze’, made with Bombay Sapphire, freshly muddled lemons, grapefruit bitters, and mint; the ‘Fire Quacker’, made with Patron Silver, chilli, coriander, lime, sugar and soda; and other specialities like the Watermelon-Basil ‘Caipiroska’ and the Strawberry-Lemongrass ‘Smash’.

Also new is a selection of Tacos, including Duck Barbacoa with avocado and salsa taquero; Tuna Tostada with crispy onion, lime and jalapeño salsa; Cauliflower Tinga with slaw, coriander, spring onion and red chilli; or Grilled Fish with tomatillo salsa, lime, red onion and coriander.

Guests can also order oysters, summer salads, and steamed Scottish mussels.

The terrace is available for party bookings of up to 50 guests, but is otherwise open daily (weather dependent), with no reservations necessary.
