Edinburgh’s Lucky Liquor hosts London’s Seed Library for birthday bash

Lucky Liquor founders Mike Aikman and Jason Scott

THIS July brings the tenth anniversary of Edinburgh cocktail bar Lucky Liquor, and to mark the occasion, it’ll be hosting its friends from Seed Library in London for an evening of fun, epic tunes, and ‘phenomenal’ cocktails in association with Flor de Caña rum.

Since day one back in 2013, Lucky Liquor has had a very specific way of going about its business. “We stock thirteen bottles on the backbar, we do a cocktail menu with thirteen drinks on it, and we do it for thirteen weeks,” explained founder and co-owner Jason Scott.

“There’s a lot of really great bars around us so we always wanted to have that point of difference.”

Co-owner Mike Aikman added: “It’s awesome that we’ve gone ten years without feeling like we’re repeating ourselves, and the guys are always coming up with amazing new drinks.

“To celebrate this milestone, we’re excited to be working with the latest venue from Mr Lyan, Seed Library. Following on from such iconic venues as White Lyan and Lyaness, the bar focuses on stripped back analogue forms, embracing natural variance and a maker’s touch, and we’ve worked with their team to create a menu that shows off the best of each bars’ approach to creating memorable cocktails.”

Ryan Chetiyawardana, founder of Mr Lyan, commented: “We’re super excited to join our dear friends at Lucky Liquor for their 10th birthday bash.

“Madness! What an innings! It’s a bar close to our heart – not just for being extended family, with key Lyan team (hiya Mark, Robin!) being Lucky Liquor founding alumni – but because it’s been a bar we’ve admired since the beginning for their irreverent approach, and providing some of the tastiest drinks we’ve ever tried.

“There’s been far too many great nights out, with and without the pool table. All of the elements of the bar are things we love hugely, and that feels very aligned with Seed Library, so we’re very proud to form part of the bar’s celebrations”

The fun kicks off from 6pm on Sunday 2nd July at Lucky Liquor on Queen Street in Edinburgh.
