SLTN is preparing to launch a new series of events under the brand ‘In Conversation with SLTN’.
Tackling a different topic each time, the events – free to attend for anyone in hospitality – will be supported by a range of sponsors.
The first event, Inclusivity in Whisky, takes place in Glasgow on 4th September, in partnership with Master of Malt Trade and The Drink Cabinet.
Speakers will look at the challenges facing the whisky sector as it aims to attract both a broader range of customers and a more inclusive workforce, before attendees are encouraged to share their own thoughts on the subject in break-out groups.
What are the barriers to entry? What steps have already been taken to make the sector more inclusive? And what can the whisky and hospitality industries do to make whisky more welcoming outside of its traditional customer base – whether that’s to women, ethnic groups or the LGBTQIA+ community?
In addition to stimulating debate, the event will also feature quality food and drink and a chance to mingle with staff and operators from across Scotland.
Speakers will be announced in the coming weeks, with future event announcements later in the year.
SLTN editor Gordon Davidson said: “We’re really excited to be launching In Conversation with SLTN.
“The paper and the website strive to bring staff and operators the biggest and most interesting stories affecting Scottish hospitality and that will continue to be our main focus moving forward.
“But the hospitality industry is all about people, and what better way to celebrate those people than to bring them together for great food, drinks and conversation?”
