Whisky & Witches at Leith’s Mother Superior

LEITH’S Mother Superior Bar will become home to a night of ‘Mythical Beasts’ this month, before a longer run of this immersive whisky tasting experience during the Edinburgh Festival.

A collaboration between the venue, Whisky & Witches and Spiritfilled Ltd, the event – on May 7th – invites participants to explore five single malt expressions through storytelling, folklore, humour and music.

The team behind the concept are singer-songwriter and whisky experience ambassador Christine Kammerer, and whisky aficionado and owner of The Mother Superior Bar, Jane Ross. Christine  provides the event’s music, a combination of originals, and Scottish and Nordic folk tunes, while Jane brings whisky to life with her theatrical tasting notes.

The stories and music are all tailored to the whiskies and ‘the beasts who embody them’. With each dram there’s a tale and two songs fitting to the theme of each.

Such has been the enthusiasm for this evening of malty mysticism at The Mother Superior that it is now set for an Edinburgh Fringe run from 11 to the 24th of August.
