Ales from West Yorkshire craft brewery SALT will continue to be distributed by the Molson Coors Beverage Company, as the deal between the two has been extended for a further three years.
Craft keg ale is reportedly going from ‘strength to strength’ in the on-trade. Over the past year, the category has increased in value by 28%.
SALT’s range of award-winning craft ales include LOOM Pale, Jute Session IPA and Huckaback NEIPA, and since announcing its first deal with Molson Coors in 2022, the brewery’s distribution footprint across the UK has increased five-fold.
Known for its roots in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, SALT was founded in 2018 by Jamie Lawson, with a declared mission to brew beers that would appeal to a wide range of consumers. It has since won numerous plaudits for its beers, including several national gold medals at the SIBA Independent Beer Awards and World Beer Awards.
Mr Lawson said: “This exciting distribution deal allows us to continue our strong trajectory as we move towards our ambition to become one of the UK’s leading craft breweries. We are immensely proud of where we have come in just four and half years.
“This close partnership with Molson Coors allows us to continue that growth in the national on-trade, winning listings with some of the finest outlets in the UK while remaining an independent craft brewer.”
UK on trade sales director at Molson Coors, Martyn Cozens, commented: “SALT has been the perfect extension to our already strong portfolio of premium beers. Craft ale continues to entice consumers across the UK that are looking for new experiences and great tasting beers, and the SALT brand delivers on all fronts.
“At the heart of the craft category is the ongoing need for innovation and new styles,” added Mr Cozens. “We’ve been impressed with not just the speed at which SALT have brought products to market but the unrivalled quality of its drinks such as Loom Pale.
“We look forward to our continued relationship with this pioneering brand and to seeing how the craft category evolves over the next three years of this successful partnership.”
