BRITISH soft drinks maker Cawston Press is having a little fun with the recent announcement that famous tropical drink brand Lilt is to be rolled into the Fanta range.
The London-based business has unveiled plans to release its own pineapple and grapefruit soft drink, which it promises will be ‘a new tilt on Lilt’.
Lilt’s parent company, Coca-Cola, announced this year that the famous ‘totally tropical’ drink will now be rebranded as Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit rather than continuing as its own stand-alone brand.
Announcing the move Martin Attock, of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners GB said that “absolutely nothing has changed when it comes to the iconic taste of the drink they know and love”.
“It’s still bursting with tangy tropical flavours,” said Attock. “It’s just got itself a new name.”
But the Cawston team clearly reckoned there was a chance to have some fun.
Announcing the creation of the company’s own pineapple and grapefruit flavour, Micah Carr-Hill, Cawston’s ‘head of taste’, said: “With a commitment to transparency and real ingredients, the Cawston Press Sparkling Pineapple Grapefruit Juice Drink would offer a fabulous blend of not from concentrate pineapple juice and grapefruit juice, using just apple juice to sweeten. More juice and nothing unnecessarily added – the naturally tropical taste.
“A new tilt on Lilt you could say.”
