Could you help bring this historic St Enoch building back to life?

A PROPERTY developer is looking for a bar operator to take on the lease of a newly-refurbished unit in the centre of Glasgow.

The Teacher Building on St Enoch Square is in the process of being extensively refurbished, with the upper floors set to be operated as serviced apartments for short-term accommodation. They are set to open for business in the summer.

The ground and lower ground floors will be converted into a bar and restaurant, with planning permission granted for a 101-cover restaurant and 110-capacity bar.

“We are currently seeking a leisure operator to complement the upper floor use as a high quality bespoke serviced apartment building run by an international operator,” said Steve Barnett of Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, which is marketing the unit on behalf of the developer.

Will Kingston of Sonder, the operator behind the serviced apartments, added that the company expects the apartments “to accommodate local and international visitors travelling for both business and leisure”.

The building itself is an historic feature of St Enoch Square, having been built in 1875 as the headquarters and shop for whisky company William Teacher & Son.
