PROMISING maximalist interiors and extravagant Italian dishes, Oi Mamma, the latest venture from entrepreneurs Amalia Colaluca and Joe Lazzerini, is set to open in Bearden, Glasgow, next week.
The Milngavie Road project is on the site previously occupied by the much-loved Raffaele’s Restaurant, which closed last month, and the 80-seat restaurant with bar space will be Colaluca and Lazzerini’s first Italian focused restaurant.
Fresh from the success of the three restaurant concepts they have launched in the Glasgow area since 2020 – most recently an East End branch of The Loveable Rogue – the pair want Oi Mamma to offer fun and exciting dining, amidst ‘flamboyant design infused with friendly Italian hospitality’.
They also promise that the new Instagram-friendly eatery will be affordable, with the goal of connecting with a younger neighbourhood customer.
Oi Mamma’s menu will mix classic Italian recipes with a modern Mediterranean twist, to offer ‘playful, generous and authentic’ food. Launch menu dishes will include Nduja Hummus, Sourdough flatbread; Whole Lemon Sole on the bone served with Brown Butter, Shrimps, Samphire, Amalfi lemon and Tagliolini with Pecorino Basil & Creamy Burrata.
Every day, the kitchen will make fresh pasta, and a variety of pizzas will be available, all made with dough that has been proofed for 72 hours to maximize flavour and ensure a light and distinct crust.
Ms Colaluca said: “Oi Mamma, a loud and bold Italian eatery that serves a ‘new look’ for the neighborhood, will open this month. Our family-friendly restaurant will be vibrant from the inside out, providing local residents with a new place to eat and drink.”
Head chef Giovanni Di Camillo added: “We aim to honor the team’s traditional family roots and warm Italian hospitality while also celebrating the much-loved neighborhood’s personality. Our menu will be simple and flavourful, with classic Italian crowd-pleasers and a celebration of Italian produce.”
Oi Mamma will open on February 8th at 151-155 Milngavie Rd, Bearsden, G61 3D. The restaurant will be open daily from 12pm til late.
