Kay’s Bar in Edinburgh’s New Town has been named as winner of the 2022 Real Ale Quality Award, as selected by the local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale.

Throughout 2022, visiting CAMRA members have been providing beer quality scores for the 300-odd real ale pubs in their area – and Kay’s average score came out on top, not only in Edinburgh but throughout the Lothians and Borders.

On hearing the news of the award, Kay’s landlord Fraser Gillespie said: “We are delighted with this recognition by CAMRA of our commitment to serving a range of quality real ales.”

CAMRA’s 2022 Real Ale Quality Award runners up in Edinburgh were The Mitre Bar, on the city’s Royal Mile, and the Dreadnought, in Leith.
