‘Fiercely extravagant and audacious’ is how the Vittoria Group describe its new Leith Walk eatery, Antonietta, which seeks to reinvent the traditional Italian offering on the site of the group’s time-served La Favorita restaurant.
The flamboyant design is consciously aimed at the Instagram generation who come out for both food and photos, and promises to be easy enough on the wallet to connect with a younger neighbourhood customer.
Offering seating for up to 140 guests, there are contrasting and clashing styles spread across two dining rooms, intended to create a ‘celebratory space’ for fun cuisine and a lively atmosphere.
Dishes are to be served on hand painted plates from Amalfi, and include Beef & Nduja Mafaldine pasta and a popping yolk Pizza with Cacio e pepe sauce, Fior di Latte & Pancetta strips.
On the drinks menu, customer will find a Limeoncello and Pink Gin slushy, as well as a range of organic wines. All of Antoinetta’s ingredients will be sourced as locally as possible, or direct from small suppliers in Italy.
Vittoria Group director Leandro Crolla said: “We have fought with tram works on Leith Walk for years; nevertheless, there is now light at the end of the tunnel as we say goodbye to La Favorita Restaurant after 17 years, we welcome Antonietta – a loud and bold Italian eatery that serves a ‘new look’ neighbourhood.”
Edinburgh-based commercial interior design firm, Studio So, was commissioned earlier this Autumn to create the new interior concept.
Director Michelle Ridley said: “Antonietta’s creative concept was born directly from ‘La Famiglia’. The strong family orientated Italian culture and the deep bonds of family members. We want to stay true to the group’s traditional family roots and warm Italian hospitality, while celebrating the much-loved Italian extroverted, passionate, and bold personality.”
Earlier this year, the Vittoria Group announced changes to its pizza delivery brand La Favorita. The takeaway site on Leith Walk beside Antonietta was redesigned internally with a contemporary look to match new branding and menus. La Favorita Delivered continues to operate seven days a week in Edinburgh Central.
