PUBS impacted by the table service requirement which was brought in on 27th December and ends today (24th January) will be able to apply for a one-off grant of up to £5000.

The Scottish Government published details on Friday (21st January) of the Public House Table Service Restrictions Fund January 2022 which will issue one-off grants of £2500 for public house businesses with a rateable value (RV) of up to and including £51,000 or £5000 for those with an RV of £51,001 and above.

Pub operators will be required to complete an application form to apply for the funding, which the Scottish Government said will be available on its funding page (https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-business-funding/) “shortly”. The fund will close for applications on 11th February 2022, and the Scottish Government said local authorities “will make payments within 14 days of receiving an application where eligibility has been established”.

The Scottish Government said the Public House Table Service Restrictions Fund is “only available to businesses where the only function is as a public house” and that it is for a local authority to determine if a business meets the eligibility description.

It said the fund aims to support businesses “most affected” by the table service measure, and that “these businesses are likely to be eligible for funding from the hospitality top up funds also”.

Other hospitality funds include the Hospitality and Leisure: January Business Support Top Up fund, which aims to support businesses impacted by the requirement for physical distancing and capacity limits which came into force from 27th December and also end today (24th January). The fund offers one-off grants of £1400 for hospitality businesses with an RV of up to and including £51,000 or £2100 for those with an RV of £51,001 and above. The Scottish Government said local authorities should have contacted “most businesses” which have received grants from previous coronavirus restrictions funds by 21st January. Those which haven’t previously received funding and new business set up since 3rd November 2020 will be required to complete an application form; the fund closes for applications on 31st January 2022.

The Hospitality: December and January Business Support Top Up fund offers one-off grants of £4500 for premises with an RV of up to and including £51,000, or £6,800 for those with an RV of £51,001 and above for businesses which lost bookings over the festive trading period. Again, the Scottish Government said local authorities will contact businesses which have previously received funding by the end of January. Those which have not previously received funding and new businesses registered after 3rd November 2020will need to complete an application form; the fund closes for applications on 31st January 2022.

And the Nightclub Closure Fund for nightclubs which were required to close under the restrictions which came in on 27th December (and are able to reopen from today – 24th January). The fund offers one-off grants of £25,000 for premises with an RV of up to and including £40,000; £35,000 for those with an RV of between £40,001 and £75,000; and £55,000 for those with an RV of £75,001 and above. The Scottish Government said nightclubs which previously received funding will be “contacted directly and invited to apply for the grant”.
