Diners can go Dutch in the capital

Greenwoods launches first venue outwith the Netherlands

AN Amsterdam-based restaurant group specialising in breakfast, brunch and lunch has opened a venue in Edinburgh – its first outwith the Netherlands.

Greenwoods, which was established in Amsterdam in 1988 and now has two venues in the city, has opened in the former Wee Restaurant unit on Frederick Street after it acquired the premises in a deal brokered by property firm, The Restaurant Agency.

Alan Goldie, director of The Restaurant Agency, said: “We are delighted to have

played an active role in bringing this long-established brunch staple from the canals of

Amsterdam to the streets of Edinburgh.

“Jen Nelson, director of Greenwoods, has returned home to Scotland and is looking to

combine their Dutch influence with local Scottish produce to create a delicious brunch menu.”

Nelson said the focus at Greenwoods is on homemade products and local produce.

“Having traded in Amsterdam since 1988 there will be some added Dutch elements including their famous homemade apple pie – a nod to the restaurant’s roots,” she said.
