Lockdown extended until mid-February

First minister says islands of Barra and Vatersay to go into lockdown from midnight

CURRENT lockdown restrictions covering mainland Scotland and some islands are to remain in place until at least mid-February, first minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced.

Speaking in the Scottish Parliament today (19th January), Sturgeon said the lockdown will be extended to the middle of next month, and that the Scottish Government will review the situation again on 2nd February.

The islands of Barra and Vatersay, which are connected by a causeway, are to be moved from level three to level four lockdown restrictions from midnight following a “significant outbreak” on Barra.
