Whiskies go under the hammer for The Ben

Rare and exclusive bottlings to be auctioned online for Scottish licensed trade charity

A NUMBER of rare and exclusive whiskies are going under the hammer to raise funds for Scottish licensed trade charity The Ben.

Bidding in the auction, hosted by WhiskyAuctioneer.com, opens today (Wednesday 23rd December) and runs until 11th January.

Lots include a Glendronach PX single cask, a rare 22 year old Hazelburn (one of one); a signed bottle of the first ever single cask from Ardnamurchan Distillery; 25 bottles of Ardbeg 14 year old from Whisky Cellar; and virtual events, including a Glenfarclas online tasting of the distillery’s family casks.

The lots have been donated by whisky companies to help The Ben raise funds for people across the Scottish licensed trade and drinks industry who have fallen on hard times due to COVID-19.

John Hutchison, president of The Ben, said: “2020 has been one of the hardest years for our sector and as a consequence we have helped a record number of beneficiaries, but the financial impact on us as a charity is significant, and all monies raised from this auction will go straight to helping individuals in Scotland.”

Chris Gardner, chief executive of The Ben, said: “We are touched by the continuing support and generosity of the trade in these extremely trying times. There are some superb bottles up for grabs and we thank everyone who has contributed once again.”

Online bidding opens today (Wednesday 23rd December) and closes at 7pm on Monday 11th January. To register go to www.whiskyauctioneer.com
