AN initiative which aims to feed thousands of NHS workers has been launched by independent pizza chain Pizza Punks.
Led by the founder of Pizza Punks, Glasgow-based operator Brad Stevens, the NHS Pizza Punks Fund will provide pizza for up to 2500 NHS staff at each of its restaurants in Glasgow, Newcastle and Belfast through a partnership with suppliers, Continental Foods, Ecco riders, Hendersons Foods and Italicatessen.
Around 500 pizzas will be made available initially by Pizza Punks for NHS staff at each restaurant location but the chain is urging the public to make donations of ÂŁ10, ÂŁ20 or ÂŁ50 through the gift voucher page on its website to raise funds to feed greater numbers.
All funds raised for the Glasgow pizza venue will provide food for staff at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
In a statement, Pizza Punks said: “This is a non-profit scheme with the team volunteering their time. All donations made will solely support getting pizza direct to the NHS staff.”
