Zero risk with low and no

Heineken

WHILE total value sales of £3.37 million may not suggest a behemoth for bars, sales of low and no-alcohol beers have in fact ballooned by 27% in the past 12 months.

As moderation and abstinence trends continue to have an effect on people’s alcohol consumption, it is perhaps of little surprise to find low and no-alcohol alternatives have performed so well.

Pilsner Beck’s Blue kept its pole position within the category, albeit with a slight sales dip, while Heineken 0.0 moved up one place to take second from the now third placed Bavarian wheat beer Erdinger Alkoholfrei.

Storming into the top five is Krombacher Non-Alcoholic, which is up 11 places from last year.

Its German brewer has enjoyed success with its low-alcohol Pilsner and augmented its range this spring against the backdrop of growing demand with a non-alcoholic Weizen wheat beer.

Rounding off the top five, and the only Scottish brand within it, is Brewdog Nanny State.
Other leading brands listed in the category include Tennent’s Hee Haw and Innis & Gunn’s 0% ABV pale ale Innis & None.
