THE makers of the first Speyside cask-aged tequila has relaunched the brand as Storywood Tequila.

Michael Ballantyne, who launched the former UWA Tequila in 2017, said the move was the “next chapter”.

Distributed by Halewood International from September, Storywood Tequila’s core range includes Speyside Anejo and Speyside Reposado – which have been aged in whisky barrels for 14 and 7 months respectively.

Both variants have an ABV of 40% and are designed to be sipped rather than served as a shot.

Ballantyne said: “If there is one thing I know it’s flavour through oak so I’m excited to bring to the industry my next chapter.

“Born in Mexico but aged in Scotland our mission is to make tequila more accessible to a wider audience, encouraging brown spirit drinkers to step outside their comfort zone.”
