OPERATORS looking for a hotel in the south west may be interested in the Best Western Moffat House Hotel in the Dumfriesshire town of Moffat.

Set within 1.4 acres yet centrally-located just off the town’s High Street, the Grade A-listed property dates from 1761 when noted architect John Adam completed the design and building of the property for the Earl of Hopetoun.

The 21-bedroom hotel also offers a range of public rooms, including a banqueting and function suite, as well as a two-bedroom cottage, which is said to be suitable as owner’s accommodation.

An established and profitable business in an attractive location.

Moffat is almost equidistant between the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Carlisle and is described as an established and popular destination.

Owned by the same family for 11 years, the hotel has operated under management for the last ten years and has been placed on the market to allow the current owners to retire.

Alistair Letham, a director at Colliers International, said: “The Moffat House Hotel is a classic Georgian mansion house, unusually in a town centre location which all adds to the attraction of the business.

“It is easily accessible in the corner of southern Scotland, making it an ideal investment for hoteliers – experienced or first-timers – seeking an established and profitable business in an attractive location.”

Colliers International is seeking offers in the region of £1 million for the freehold of the hotel.
