Wheely good effort: a team of 20 cyclists took part in the event

AN annual fundraising cycle for The Ben was on track to raise around £5000 for the licensed trade charity.

A team of 20 from across the Scottish trade took part in Uncle Bob’s Sportif earlier this month, cycling an 80-mile circuit from The Ben’s estate in Pitlochry to Blair Athol Distillery.

Chris Gardner, chief executive of The Ben, said the event is expected to raise around £5000 once all sponsorship and donations have come in.

“Thanks to all the participants in Uncle Bob’s Sportif,” she said. “There was great team spirit and camaraderie on the day; hats off to them for attempting the 80-mile circuit to raise funds for The Ben.”

It comes after The Ben’s Pop & Prosecco event last month raised £3700 for the charity, which supports those in the trade who have fallen on hard times.

The Ben Pro-Am takes place at Archerfield on August 27. Teams must be entered by June 28 by emailing chris@bensoc.org.uk
