A festival with good intentions

THIS is set to be a good month for beer fans and charities in the north east of Scotland as the Midsummer Beer Happening takes place in Stonehaven.

The event, marking its tenth year, is expected to attract more than 5000 visitors when it takes place between June 20 and 22 at Baird Park.

More than 120 beers will be available for guests to try, and organisers have pledged to donate thousands of pounds from the event to local charities, including Stonehaven Youth Football Club and Stonehaven Sea Cadets.

“Last year, thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, the [festival] raised almost £30,000 for our charities,” said Robert Lindsay, founder of local brewery Six Degrees North and organiser of the festival.

“As this is a big year, our tenth anniversary, we are hoping to do even better.”
