Set for launch: Vicky McQueen, Nicola Sturgeon and Dale McQueen

The month of May has been special for Callander gin maker McQueen as the doors opened at the company’s new distillery.

First minister Nicola Sturgeon joined owners Dale and Vicky McQueen at the official launch of the 6200 square foot facility, which will allow the company to increase its production capacity by more than 1000%.

The new distillery was created following an investment of £750,000, some of which was secured from Scottish Enterprise. Sturgeon said: “The impressive growth of McQueen Gin proves that it is possible with the right idea, product and people to go from a small start-up business to exporting around the world in a relatively short period of time – and that being rural-based provides no barrier to international success.

“I am pleased that Scottish Enterprise has been able to help the company’s ambition by providing support and expertise in their growth.”
