Edinburgh Gin’s range is that bit stronger thanks to the launch of a new full-strength flavoured gin.
Bottled at 40% ABV, the new gin sees natural rhubarb and ginger flavours added post-distillation to Edinburgh Gin Classic – a juniper-forward spirit.
It is said to pair well with yuzu and Mediterranean tonic varieties – and can bring “depth of flavour” to G&T menus, according to Edinburgh Gin parent firm Ian Macleod Distillers, who said the expansion into full-strength flavoured gin “is a natural progression” for the distiller, which first introduced a rhubarb and ginger variant to the gin category in 2014.
The new full-strength flavoured gin joins Edinburgh Gin’s existing Rhubarb & Ginger range, which comprises a 20% ABV Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Liqueur and a 5% ABV ready-to-drink Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Liqueur with Ginger Ale.
To support the launch, Edinburgh Gin will be rolling out a ‘fortune telling gin ball’ in bars.
Modelled on the magic-8 ball, the fortune telling gin ball will ‘predict’ 18 perfect serves; from Head for the Med – Rhubarb & Ginger Full-Strength Gin with Mediterranean tonic – to The Outlook is Bubbly – Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Liqueur with fizz.
Neil Mowat, UK marketing director at Ian Macleod Distillers, said that with gin aficionados “increasingly keen to explore and experiment within the category”, both gin liqueurs and full-strength flavoured gins are “a must for any well-stocked bar”.
Edinburgh Gin’s Rhubarb & Ginger Gin joins the existing full-strength line up, which includes Edinburgh Gin Classic (43% ABV), Seaside (43% ABV), 1670 (43% ABV), and Cannonball (57.2% ABV).
