SLTA launches online training

Online SCPLH courses and compliance modules go live

PLHs whose licences expire on August 31 are being urged to take action

THE Scottish Licensed Trade Association (SLTA) has launched an online training package offering Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holder (SCPLH) and SCPLH Refresher training alongside various compliance modules.

The trade group has joined forces with Edinburgh-based Flow Hospitality Training to make the suite of courses available via its website.

The SCPLH online course is said to take a few hours to complete online and comes with an SQA-accredited personal licence holder handbook, which licensees can use to study before sitting the exam at a Pearson Vue test centre; the SCPLH Refresher training, which must be undertaken every five years, also includes a handbook.

The SLTA’s new training package also offers the mandatory two-hour training for staff working in licensed premises, which is available free to SLTA members. There are also Health & Safety, Food Safety and Food Allergens courses available, with more due to be added in time.

Details of the training initiative were unveiled at the trade group’s AGM by Jim Grierson, chair of the SLTA’s non-executive board, and courses went live on its website last week.

Colin Wilkinson, managing director of the SLTA, said the ultimate aim is to offer a full suite of modules.

“We’re delighted to be up and running,” he said.

“Obviously the priority was the SCPLH and Refresher training, and we plan to add more courses going forward.

“Jim Grierson has done so much work on this – quite frankly I don’t think we’d be where we are without him. And to have the expertise of Flow is fantastic. We’re beyond pleased with it.”
