Chef Banks on local with debut eatery

Fife’s produce brought to fore

MASTERCHEF: The Professionals finalist Dean Banks is set to champion Fife’s local and seasonal produce in his first restaurant, Haar.

The eatery, which opened this month on the main floor of St Andrews’ five-star Kinettles Hotel, is said to have been extensively renovated to give the space a marine-inspired look.

Banks said he wants diners to enjoy a “complete sensory experience” with the restaurant’s food, decor and drinks.

He added: “We’re so fortunate to have access to world-class produce here in Fife, and I want to harness the best of it, from lobsters landed only 11 miles away to locally grown vegetables.”
