Scottish premium spirit heralded at this year’s World Vodka Awards
Loch Lomond Group, the firm behind Glen’s Vodka, is celebrating after the brand’s Platinum expression was lauded at the 2019 World Vodka Awards.
The premium vodka, which the company launched in 2014 in response to what it described as increasing demand for quality spirits, earned a gold medal in the scheme’s Best Pure Neutral category.
The World Vodka Awards is open to brands from across the world; expressions can be entered into a number of categories and are judged by a panel of experts, journalists and specialist drinks retailers, who score the spirits on properties such as smell, look and taste.
Each spirit is blind tasted in its relevant category to find the best spirit in each country, then tasted a second time to decide upon the world’s best.
Judges in the Best Pure Neutral category praised Glen’s Platinum for being “very clean, neutral” and “well balanced”.
We’ve been really pleased with how it’s been received by consumers and experts.
Alisha Goodwin, brand manager at Loch Lomond Group, said: “Since we’ve introduced Glen’s Platinum to our range, we’ve been very pleased with how it’s been received by both consumers and industry experts.
“Being awarded gold at the World Vodka Awards is a fantastic achievement for Glen’s Platinum, and we hope our spirit continues to impress in the years to come.”
Loch Lomond Group has also unveiled two new flavoured Glen’s spirits: Peach & Passionfruit and Strawberry & Apple.
The 20% ABV spirits are said to have been developed due to market trends for “complex infusions, lower alcohol options”.
The variants are described as mixing well with a range of drinks, including tonic water, for use in simple spirit/mixer serves and cocktails.
Goodwin said the spirits will eliminate “the need to have dozens of ingredients and instead offer a simple solution for a delicious summer drink”.
