THE team behind The Old Curiosity Distillery in Edinburgh is showing its romantic side with the release of a colour-changing rose gin ahead of Valentine’s Day.
The 39% ABV expression, which is made with one of the oldest rose varieties in the world, changes from pale gold to pink when tonic water is added.
Available until the end of March, each 50cl bottle of Apothecary Rose gin comes with a bag of hand-picked rose petals to use as a garnish.
The distillery is the brainchild of Hamish Martin, owner of the Secret Herb Garden on the outskirts of the capital where all of the herbs and botanicals within the gin are grown.
Martin said: “The traditional bouquet can be a little predictable. Saying ‘I love you’ with roses and gin is much more fun.
“Our delicious Apothecary Rose gin offers a little magic for Valentine’s Day. It turns an incredible shade of pink, and it looks just perfect when served with a scattering of rose petals from our garden.”
