LICENSEES whose personal licences are due to expire later this year have been urged to submit their renewal applications ahead of the May 31, 2019 deadline.
The reminder follows the revelation that in the event that licensing boards become overwhelmed with a flurry of last-minute applications in May, PLHs who have lodged their renewal application close to the deadline may lose their licence if boards are unable to process them on time.
Operators have also been warned that failing to comply with and carry out mandatory staff training could lead to the suspension of their licence.
Paul Fair, an LSO at Clackmannanshire Council, raised the issue at the SLLP conference last month, where he said the mandatory 16-point staff training is often “the main compliance issue” LSOs encounter.
“Failure to train staff in accordance with statutory requirements can be fatal to a business,” he said.
