WHAT’S claimed to be the oldest pub in the Ayrshire town of Irvine is for sale.

Built in 1567 and licensed in 1754, The Ship Inn, on Harbour Street, has been owned by the same family for the past 25 years.

The property, which was extended to the rear in 2004 and upgraded in 2008 to take in a new kitchen and 60-cover function facility, comprises a traditional island bar, a snug area and a 70-cover dining room.

Offers over £750,000 are sought for the pub, which is on the market via Christie & Co.
