IAN Macleod Distillers has announced plans to build a new distillery and visitor centre for its Edinburgh Gin brand in the heart of the Scottish capital.

The multi-million pound facility, on East Market Street in Edinburgh’s old town, will house state-of-the-art production facilities as well as private gin tasting rooms and a rooftop terrace.

The company, which acquired Edinburgh Gin in 2016, said it expects to attract around 100,000 visitors to the distillery each year, while the new facility will allow it to increase production of Edinburgh Gin by more than 200%.

“This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the evolution of Edinburgh Gin,” said Neil Mowat, UK marketing director at Ian Macleod Distillers.
