Shaking up extra sales

Christmas cocktail

COCKTAIL and puree brand Funkin is urging operators to focus on cocktails this Christmas to tap into the increase in demand throughout the festive season.

Cocktails are said to have been one of the strongest profit drivers for licensees this year so far, according to Funkin; and the company reckons that will continue throughout Christmas and New Year.

“Cocktails are going to be in higher demand than ever over the festive period, with people celebrating, having Christmas parties and generally going out more,” said Ben Anderson, head of marketing at Funkin, which has released a range of festive serves to help licensees drive cocktail sales forward in the coming months.

Designed to help operators develop a range of “stand-out, easy to replicate and profit-driving serves”, Funkin’s range contains various festive cocktails, such as Christmas Day Basting (pictured), which includes 50ml gin, 100ml Funkin Elderflower Collins, six sage leaves, and 25ml red wine in a baster.

Other serves include the Right in the Baubles, Prancer on the Ceiling, Scooby Snack, and Twinkle Bow cocktails.

Its Christmas recipes all feature seasonal garnishes, with variations “to accommodate every type of outlet and staff skill level”.

Funkin’s Ben Anderson said festive serves should be considered by all operators.

He said: “It is important to theme serves for Christmas, however, no matter the type of outlet, attention to detail is fundamental.

“Consumers expect consistent quality and great looking cocktails every time.”

Anderson added: “If outlets haven’t already created their Christmas drinks menu, then we would urge them to take action now and start thinking about how they can add a festive twist to their offering.”
