AN established Glasgow restaurant operator is heading east after taking on the lease of a former Indian restaurant in Leith.
The unit that was formerly the Raj Restaurant on The Shore has been let to Glasgow firm Kcal Kitchen in what is the operator’s first foray into the east of Scotland.
Alasdair Macdonald of property firm Cornerstone, who negotiated the sale of the lease on behalf of the owner, said: “Leith is always a very popular trading location and it is no surprise that we organised in excess of 20 viewings on this site before finalising our agreement with Kcal Kitchen.
“As Edinburgh city centre becomes more crowded in terms of restaurant offerings, it is no surprise to me that buyers and entrepreneurs are looking for different locations outside the main city centre.”
