FROZEN food distributor Central Foods has expanded its free-from range with the launch of two new desserts via its own brand, Menuserve.
Menuserve’s New York Baked Cheesecake and Cherry Cheesecake are both gluten-free and suitable for vegans, meaning they can be used to cater for diners with additional dietary requirements.
The desserts, which are pre-portioned into 14 pieces, are designed for chefs “to top and garnish with their own creation ideas”.
Gordon Lauder, managing director of Central Foods, said an increasing demand for free-from food items is “one of the biggest current trends in foodservice”, adding that a recent study by comparethemarket.com suggests that more than 3.5 million people across the UK now identify as being vegan.
“The demand from diners for vegan and gluten-free menu items has risen significantly in recent times, and Central Foods is delighted to be able to support foodservice clients to fulfil this increased demand from their own customers,” said Lauder.
