THE Coll Hotel on the west coast island of the same name is set to almost double in size as part of a major expansion plan.
Owners Julie and Kevin Oliphant, whose family has owned the hotel since the early 1960s, plan to create a further four bedrooms in the existing bar and restaurant areas of the hotel, taking the total number of rooms to ten.
A new extension will house a 60-cover restaurant (up from the 35 the hotel can currently accommodate), a public and lounge bar and a new kitchen.
Work on the project, for which the Oliphants secured funding through Christie Finance, is currently underway and expected to be completed next spring.
Julie, whose daughter Laura is general manager of the hotel, told SLTN memorabilia from the 55 years the family has owned the hotel will feature in the new bar.
